transforming ideas into hard lines

LGH Studio is a residential design firm based in Seattle and specializing in thoughtful process, collaborative designs and practical solutions.

Vision

A key element to a successful project is building a vision.  The pathway to achieve this is balance between defining goals of the project, budget and finding precedents to help define style.  None of these will be static.  This is a constant conversation through the design process.

Light & Air

One easy way to make a space better is looking for ways to add natural ventilation and daylight.  Sometimes adding a window to a room can do both and balance the existing natural light.  Maybe, it is adding lots of windows.

Buildable

Putting the pieces together and building the puzzle is the most challenging part.  Construction drawings, building permits, construction budget, working with a contractor, and weighing choices.  They are all the parts that need fitting, adjusting, and refitting for a successful and completed built project.

Creative

Be fun.  It is your idea.  It is my job to put it on paper.  I can help with ideas, but I see more of my role as a detective and trying to figure out what you want.

LGH Studio is led by Loren Hill. After receiving a Masters in Architecture from the University of Oregon at the turn of the century, he moved to Seattle. Mountains, water...an obvious choice.

After years working at a large corporate firm, it was time for something new. With a strong desire to get closer to the process and realization of projects, Loren began working independently. LGH Studio was born.

“Sometimes the smallest projects are the best, because of the impacts they make in people’s living space. It is not only beautiful spaces that make impacts, it is bringing in the basics, such as air and daylight.”

Prior to a career in architecture, Mr. Hill worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker in New England.
